EnterTroop 250 Day Outing, Saturday, November 13

Outdoor Discovery Center and Saugatuck Dunes Park
Meeting at the Troop’s Scout Hall 9 AM and returning at 6 PM.

There is no cost for this trip, but you must bring your own lunch and we will need adults to participate in order to transport scouts and stay in compliance with youth protection guidelines.

Please be on time to be respectful of everyone's time. If your scout is going without you, we need a number to call to inform you when to pick up your scout if other than 6 PM.

We would like to leave promptly at 9:15 and travel to the Outdoor Discover Center in Holland (4214 56th ST, Holland, MI 49423-9318). We will be spending the morning exploring the Discovery Center. It is a nature center including a Raptor Center for the rehabilitation of a variety of birds of prey; hawks eagles and owls. We will eat lunch at their pavilion area. Lunch- Please Bring your Own Lunch

We will spend the afternoon at the Saugatuck Dunes Park (23960 Ruggles Rd, South Haven, MI 49090-entrance off of 138th Ave and 65th Street). While here, we will be hiking, exploring the Dunes’ trails and observing nature. We plan to leave in time to arrive back at Scout Hall 6 PM.

Please be prepared by bringing the following: health form, 10 Scout Basic Essentials (listed below), dressed for the weather (hat and gloves) and ready to hike several miles, day pack for your gear, your own lunch, a compass is a must and your boy scout handbook. Binoculars would be a nice-to-have on this hike.

Ten essentials: pocket knife, first aid kit, extra clothing, rain gear, water bottle, flashlight, trail food, matches/fire starters, sun protection and map/compass. Other essentials to consider are insect repellent and a whistle. Page 264 of the new Boy Scout Handbook.

More information is shown at the following web sites, but please direct your questions to Robert Barber
