 Troop Meetings Up-date Minimize
Monday night at 6:30PM at Scout Hall. - Sunday, September 07, 2008
Hello to all. Just a quick reminder that we are back in action, Monday night at 6:30PM at Scout Hall. This will be an outside activity night, so come prepared to play outside hard. Parents, there are announcements at 8:00, every Monday. We are asking for prize donations for the popcorn program. So if you have something of interest that you think a scout would like to win, please bring it either this week, or next. We ideally need enough prizes for one per scout. Another reminder is about dues. We ask that each meeting, your scout has 50 cents with him to pay his dues. It is a lesson in responsibilty, more than it is about the troop needing the 50 cents. It is a way to teach your scout about making his commitment to the program. So, it is intended that the scouts pay the dues, not the parents handing it to our troop scribe and treasurer. Nuff said. Thanks to all, and see you Monday! Yours in Scouting, Mike Smalligan

 Canoe White River Sept 19 - 21, 2008 Minimize
Sign-up now for Canoe trip Sept 19-21, 2008
Hello all,
Here's the info on the Canoe trip for Sept. The info is on the attached flier, which will also be on the website soon.
The deal is, that spots are limited to first come, first served, as far as the number of canoes we have reserved. You don't need to worry about wet gear, as it will be safe at the campsite, while we are canoeing. You don't need any specialized gear. Just come to have fun!
If you do have your own kayak or canoe and can transport it there, you may bring it, but please sign up, and tell Mr Schnepp that.
Swimming Merit Badge and Canoeing Merit badge are required.
Please call Mr Schnepp at 261-4349 to sign-up or with any questions. By the time we get to having scouts again on Mondays in Fall, this trip will likely be sold out.
Thanks!
Yours in Scouting,
Mike Smalligan

 Mafeking and Woodchips Nov 7 & 8, 2008 Minimize
Help with Mafeking
Hello to all involved scouting parents.
The Scouts have a special, fun event planned for November's overnight. The details are coming together, but are still much in need of planning. I'm asking each one of you to consider helping for this event, because it is kind of a "all hands on deck" type deal. We host another troop in a competition at Whistlestop on the Friday night (Nov 7) and then have a wood chip speading event on Sat (Nov 8).
We need many hands. How can you help, you ask?
We need people (I'd like to make teams of 2) to create and man stations of patrol competitions on Friday night, till dark at Whistlestop. We have some ideas on how this can happen, but would really like to create some new activities, so the scouts are challenged.
We are suggesting that the scouts make this a campout at Whistlestop, when they have done a lock-in at the Rock before. We'll see where that goes, with the scouts PLC meeting. Joe: please consider a campout vs Lock-in
If it is a lock in, we'll need volunteers for food breakfast prep.
Either way, we'll need equipment for the wood-chip dispersal on Sat. Anyone who has brought equipment before, can you help again? We need ATV's with trailers that can haul woodchips.
Please E-mail me back as to what you could help with. We really need about 20 adults involved that night and weekend to do this one.
Thanks all!
Mike
