The requirements to be in the OA for the youth, is they have to be a registered Boy Scout of America, you have to be at least 1st Class Scout and you have spent 15 days and night camping, including 6 consecutive days of residential camping, like going to summer camp. Many people get confused about how you elect OA members. The way the election works is at least 50% of the troop (registered active Boy Scout, OA member 21 0r under) has to be present at the election and the eligible scouts need to get at least 50% of the votes. More than one youth can be voted in per election.
If there is 100 registered active youth in the troop and 50 show up then for even one youth to get into the OA he has to get at least 25 votes and it is possible for 100% of the eligible members to get elected in. Vote for the person you think of with good cheerful service and brotherhood skills and will do the best job representing you and your troop.
