Welcome and Instructions!

Greetings! - this is a simplified Scouts BSA website template.

There are instructions for setting up and configuring this website for your troop.  The instructions are in the Launch Countdown page.

Editable graphics are also available so that you can easily customize the graphics for your unit.  You'll need to download and use the free GIMP graphics editing program.

The template is originally based off of the BSA Unit template by Troop 88.

The instructions are heavily borrowed from the Cub Scout Web template originally written by Keith Conover.

For now, this template only works with the Classic Google sites.  The New Sites conversion tool current fails to produce a satisfactory result for this website design and new sites doesn't currently allow templates.

The editable graphics (including the BSA numbers), site tweaks and instructions edits are one part of my Woodbadge ticket.  If you haven't taken Woodbadge yet - do so!

Come learn about Scouts at our Open House on Monday, Sep 24th at Bethany Church.  Both boys and girls are welcome - boys will join 709 and girls will join our associated girl Troop 1709.   We'll have some scouting activities to try and the opportunity to learn how our programs work and some of the fun things we've been and will be doing!

We are an awesome troop, but we're not so good on websites!  Too busy camping and doing fun trips!

Thank you to Troop 709 and its leadership!

We recently received the following message from Ed McCollins, Green Mountain Council's Scout Executive:

Also, thank you for the troop donation of $200 toward the Family Friends of Scouting campaign. Had a great meeting with Denise and she asked about FOS.  After our conversation, she felt that was something the troop should and could support.  Very impressed with her.  You have yourself a good one in her for the troop.  Overall Bill, you and your troop leadership have been nothing but great to the boys your serve and the Scouting program and its image and reputation in Vermont.  Thank you!
